Degree & License: Master's Degree in Counseling, Professional Counselor

Specialties:
Art Therapy; grief and loss; depression; anxiety; mindfulness; trauma; adjustment disorders; behavioral children and adolescents

Populations Served: Children, adolescents, and adults

Approach:
I like to take an eclectic approach to therapy, incorporating multiple techniques and strategies. I believe utilizing a client-centered approach gives clients the opportunity to decide what to explore and how, while taking into consideration their background, personality, and environments. My main focus of treatment includes identifying and restructuring negative thoughts, feelings, and/or actions to formulate a healthier, positive mindset. Through doing this, I use mindfulness techniques, art therapy experientials, deep breathing techniques, and therapy worksheets to bring the client's awareness of these thoughts, feelings, or actions into the present moment.

Personal Statement:
I was a member of student council in high school, which really opened my eyes to what giving back to the community means. I volunteered at soup kitchens, nursing homes, and animal shelters. Becoming interested in understanding individuals on a deeper level, I pursued a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, minoring in Applied Arts. Working with K-12 students who have emotional impairments and seeing some of my own family members struggle with mental health has inspired me to further my education, studying Clinical Mental Health with a concentration in Art Therapy.
